My Career Research Project; Police Officer
In the future I would like to become a police officer. A Police officer has many duties; enforcing the laws, dealing with crimes, assaults, car accidents, fires, and noisy parties. The Job of a police officer is pretty tough as they must be strong, responsible, physically and mentally capable of performing duties, and must be aware of situations around them. Most police officers work forty hours a week and earn $50,000 to $80,000 a year, while beginners earn $35,000 to $55,000 a year. Police Officers receive benefits such as pension plans, health coverage and sick days. The education that is required to become a police officer is at least a high school graduate, however to expand your credentials beyond these minimum qualification you should take university programs like criminology, psychology, law and social science. These programs will benefit police officers. You must also pass the police training program in order to officially become a police officer. The working conditions are a bit risky as you must consider the safety of others lives first before your own, but you are provided with safety equipment that protects you throughout the job. The outlook of this job in the present is good as there are enough jobs for job seekers, however, it will be hard to find a job as a police officer in the future, in Canada as there are a shortage of jobs for job seekers.
I believe this career will be suitable for me because I love getting involved and helping others with their problems. I am also capable of handling difficult tasks and situations. Knowing that I’ve been a big help to people gives me a proud feeling. I’m also very interested in gaining more knowledge about this career as I find it fascinating. What concerns me about this career is that it is very risky and dangerous, but I am willing to take the risk to get this job. In the future I am planning to graduate and get into university and take programs that will benefit me into getting a job as a police officer.
